Are you using the wwwperzl.sh script? It will use the .deps files Perlz
builds and work as a pseudo-package manager. The .deps packaged with it
are pretty old and incomplete. All the dep files are here:
ftp://www.oss4aix.org/rpmdb/deplists/aix61/

eg.
ftp://www.oss4aix.org/rpmdb/deplists/aix61/wget-1.17.1-2.aix5.1.ppc.deps
bash-4.3-17.aix5.1.ppc.rpm
bzip2-1.0.5-3.aix5.3.ppc.rpm
gdbm-1.11-1.aix5.1.ppc.rpm
gettext-0.10.40-8.aix5.2.ppc.rpm
info-5.1-2.aix5.1.ppc.rpm
libgcc-4.8.3-1.aix6.1.ppc.rpm
libiconv-1.14-2.aix5.1.ppc.rpm
libidn-1.32-1.aix5.1.ppc.rpm
openssl-1.0.1s-1.aix5.1.ppc.rpm
pcre-8.38-1.aix5.1.ppc.rpm
perl-5.8.8-2.aix5.1.ppc.rpm
readline-6.3-5.aix5.1.ppc.rpm
zlib-1.2.4-2.aix5.1.ppc.rpm

I have no idea why Perzl makes seemingly all of his RPMs depend on bash.
It wouldn't be a problem I suppose, but the wwwperzl.sh script is
braindead and will reinstall any dependencies even if they're already
installed. </rant>

Anyway, each dep file contains the full list of dependencies (its
immediate dependencies, their dependencies, and so on) so you just need to
download and install those and you should be good (well, other than fixing
up the iconv thing, which wwwperzl.sh takes care of for you).

Yep...I did. Then there was another dependency failure...then
another...then another...I think I am up to 5 or 6 dependent packages
now. I have gotten spoiled with npm and gem/bundler which takes care of

all the dependencies automagically.

Stuck here currently:

libiconv ##################################################
bash-4.3$ wget -V
Could not load program wget:
Could not load module /opt/freeware/lib/libintl.a(libintl.so.1).
Dependent module /opt/freeware/lib/libiconv.a(shr4.o) could not

be loaded.
Member shr4.o is not found in archive
Could not load module wget.
Dependent module /opt/freeware/lib/libintl.a(libintl.so.1)
could not be loaded.
Could not load module .

libintl.a is there and libiconv.a is there so I can only guess that the
shr4.o object is not in the archive....

Sounds like you need to update or install the Perzl openssl package.

One step forward.....

I installed the Perlz stuff hoping to get a version of wget that
supports https. When I run wget with an https URL, I got this:

Unsupported scheme.

wget shows version 1.9.1 so I installed wget 1.15.1 OK! Run wget
-V
and now get:

Could not load program wget:
Dependent module /opt/freeware/lib/libcrypto.so could not
be
loaded.
Could not load module /opt/freeware/lib/libcrypto.so.
System error: No such file or directory

Seems like I recently saw a post about libcrypto.so from Kevin but it
was TL;DR and I couldn't find what the solution was. Is there a
package
that should be installed or compiled?

Suggestions?
