FWIW, there's multiple personalities merging with the Orion that IBM
shipped with 5733OPS. You have both the Linux'y stuff and also Java persona
involved.

Jim, check out this link for how to configure the links:

Concerning your second question about syntax warnings. The editor uses the
extension (.js) to know what type of file it's editing (which you probably
already know), so I am curious as to what errors you are seeing that you
believe are incorrect? Maybe you are instead wanting to modify ~how many~
errors are shown? If so, go into the settings cog (left nav) and see what
can be changed. Here's a screenshot from orionhub to show where you should
look: http://www.screencast.com/t/HIhoNIHzZxk

On final note, there's one big thing I haven't yet resolved with Orion and
that is how it does source file tabs. You can have multiple files open but
they open up in separate ~browser~ tabs (vs. tabs within the same browser
window). You can open a file in a new tab by holding down Ctrl (Cmd on
Mac), but I always forget to do that so clicking on a new source file would
always replace the file currently being edited and that messed with my
normal development flow. I didn't lose changes because Orion auto saves,
but it just doesn't work for my brain because it's such a departure from
normal flow for me (old habits die hard?).

I am currently using VSCode+SSHFS for editing my Node.js on the IFS (or any
IFS file for that matter). I am actively writing an article for
MCPressOnline showing how everything fits together. If anyone is
interested in taking this approach, and viewing a work-in-progress
GoogleDoc, then please ping me at aaronbartell@xxxxxxxxx and I will get you
a link to the GoogleDoc.

It seems people forget what it was like to be a complete novice - pretty
common in any on-screen explanation of Unix-style commands, too - you had
better have read the man files - or something - and have memorized the
flags.

The documentation on the eclipse.org/Orion site is typical open source
documentation, it's written for folks that already know the answers,
rather
than assisting those of us dunce heads that have the temerity to not know
it
right off the bat.
