Hi Neil -

The machines, made up of 197 refrigerator-sized boxes each weighing one
ton, can crunch half a quadrillion - 500,000,000,000,000 - calculations
every second, estimated to be the same magnitude of 'thinking capacity' as
the human brain.
I wonder if it will turn out to be a "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" kind of
thing - a science fiction novel by Robert A. Heinlein where the computer
gained self-awareness and became "alive" as a result of its capacity
reaching the same order of magnitude as the human brain.
