There are things involved in thought that are not understood yet, and there are things that come into the "thinking picture" that occur outside known biology, not to mention known physics. Like maybe I ought to tell our VP to claim the prize somebody's offering. Every time I remember his answering the phone while I'm in his office, he has his hand hovering over the phone for 10 seconds *_before_* it makes a peep. We can give them lots of "human-behavior" appearance, for sure. Response to normal conversations. They're just glorified versions of what I saw on one of the early PC's (Kaypro). If you waited too long between keystrokes, some programmers thought it'd be cute to make it come up with a message, "Come on! We don't have all day!" Or Hal, as portrayed in the novel 2010 or the movie. Personified by his "maker". They are bits and bytes, on-off switches. But they can sure be used wrong! And they have been and they will be.
