Do NOT try that at home! ME was just to solidify Windows place in the market, so it fit right between WindowsCE and WindowsNT to unify the product line into Windows CEMENT. -----Original Message----- From: Richard B Baird [mailto:rbaird@esourceconsulting.com] Sent: Wednesday, March 27, 2002 10:24 AM To: midrange-nontech@midrange.com Subject: Re: Windows XP upgrade issues resolved Jeff, I've never heard of anyone NOT having problems with ME. what a waste of a good CD and packageing materials. Have you ever tried to back up (to CD burner) 20 gig of data with no mouse, and only 640x480 screen resolution? it ain't pretty. That's where I was afraid I was heading with ME. We'd had the computer for about a year, with performance steadily worsening. Kids installing games, etc. So I decided to reinstall ME and that only made it worse. After that the scanner no longer worked. I'd already removed ME from all desktops at work because it sucked and decided if I was going to change I might as well go whole hog. It's only been a short time, but XP Pro seems at least as stable as W2K, for whatever _that's_ worth. Shucks, if Mickeysoft keeps working at it, they'll be at the reliability of the S/36 of 25 years ago before you know it! _______________________________________________ This is the Non-Technical Discussion about the AS400 / iSeries (Midrange-NonTech) mailing list To post a message email: Midrange-NonTech@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-nontech or email: Midrange-NonTech-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-nontech.
