Hey, all that stuff is ancient history. I'd already forgotten about it. ;-)

What I hope that people do take away from seeing articles like that is the
magnitude of the job the intelligence community has. For instance, the
Israelis notified the US that "something big" was happening (not in the
article you mentioned, but in others). Obviously, something big was up.

But how is the CIA or FBI supposed to get from "something big is up" to
stopping what happened? Even if the warning had been "arliners are going to
be hijacked and crashed" it would not necessarily have been possible to stop
this although it would have given the possibility of warning the arlines to
be more watchful. But how does the CIA or FBI watch the thousands of daily
flights?

Or, taking specifics from the article you quote, is it plausible to say that
since they were warned that there had been a plot to hijack an airliner and
crash it into CIA headquarters and the Pentagon as well as "commercial towers
in San Francisco, Chicago, and New York City" they could have had any way to
foresee Sept. 11?

I just don't think so. I think that the new story points to the fact that
there are many terrorist cells all with similar goals and ideas and foiling
one doesn't stop any others.
