No one is asking them to maintain it. Just leave it be and don't support
it any more.

We don't know if there is a reason or not Richard.

I suspect the reason is financial. Maintaining that heap of baler twine,
chewing gum and Krazy Glue is difficult at best. In the past, system
changes have forced changes to old utilities and some were not that easy.

But I can't see people staying on an unsupported release because of this.
It is not as if you can't still maintain the DDS. Heck an awful lot of RPG
developers never use it anyway.

We have a number of older customers using S/36 environment code and I

don’t think I can advise them to go beyond V7R5 unless they are planning to
stop maintaining their green screen apps.
