Nope, in fact I would argue the opposite. Yea you add in the fibre switch and the SAN for complexity but that’s minor. The SAN brings several technologies that assist in reliability.

The partner is just trying to maximize the sale opportunity. (Read as more profitable sale and more expensive to the customer).
