Some people just want to remove variables from the equation when trouble
arises. If you are doing SAN boot it becomes a lot more difficult to
diagnose if you have a complete breakdown of everything. With the usual
cost of the disks it usually doesn't move the price too much to have a pair
of disks for each VIOS.
Additionally, the last time I worked with a P05 I was able to bypass the
storage limits by going to the SAN.
