Modernization is not the same as GUI. Have a look at some power user tools on the Linux platform.

From my PoV, it's not really bad that there is at least one part in the IT industry not running after the latest hype, becoming obsolete and replaced by the next big thing as soon as you've finished integrating it into your applications.
