And that's Canada, right, Jon? So it may be even more complicated with
VAT, etc.. as long as the old program still calculates it right.

Then again, I'm sending invoices out around the world... so I have to be
careful, especially with all the new Nexus laws in the US and others that
may be coming for other countries where I have to collect and remit to them
(right now those overseas customers do it like we used to do Use Tax in the
states to keep it simpler.. it, I bill for the amount and the tax, they pay
the amount minus the tax, and pay the extra as the tax themselves).

I'll retire before I need to start working with other countries tax
organizations. States, counties, etc in the US are bad enough (WI is the
worst.. MN is similar). KS used to have zero nexus limits but changed so I
don't really hit that limit. Most others also have pretty high nexus
limits where every year I need to run a sales by state report for my
accountant and figure out who I need to start or stop collecting for.

And, that also means as a vendor I have to start paying income tax in
those states that I collect sales tax for. Talk about taxation without
representation. Myself and a few others I found really hounded on WI a few
years back but they just put their fingers in their ears and say
"lalalalala.. we don't listen to logic".

Agreed - I have no payroll and only use it to determine invoice tax
amounts - not to fully account for them.

I'm sure it works fine for simple tasks. But not for payroll, taxes, etc
that are constantly updated.

I feel there's a lot of insecurity with the platform about this. I

they're

I think it will be a PIA not having it.
But do you think that things/discussions like this are what give our
system
the reputation for being a 'legacy platform' , ' an outdated
technology
from the 1980s that somehow still exists'.
Do you know of any one working on this platform that is not
approaching
retirement?
I got those quotes from AI.

I was wondering the same thing myself - why can't they just leave it

I don't see why they just can't leave it there and just not support
it.

They're literally removing SDA? Wow.... how will people support
legacy

apps?

Maybe get an older machine with an older release for such cases?
