There might be an environment variable to get around that but I think it
was slow and very painful and most people decide to do the MD or MKDIR
alternative instead.

QNTC doesn't require the same subnet. IBMi automatically sees SMB shares
on the same subnet. Shares on other subnets have to be added manually
(e.g. QSTRUP) with MKDIR.

For example:
MKDIR '/QNTC/smb_server/'
