I second the QNTC method. Since it seems that NFS is a bit problematic, QNTC becomes too easy.

I’m still convinced the issue with the NFS is the user profile (UID) or the group profile (GID) of the users on Windows and IBM i. Those need to match and when they don’t things like you are describing happen.

QNTC is the IBM directory where you mount Windows domain PCs - normally, if the IBM i and the Windows machines are in the same network subnet, you can use either NFS or Windows Networking, which uses Samba

I think not since the IBMi machine in question is not a member of the
Windows domain
