Since that's a relatively new install, the file sizes were negligible.

A DB2 file member can grow up to 1.7TB. Does this mean you should start deleting those you log to, and stop such logging, in order to prevent that space from being consumed?

I get what you are saying, if you're not using it why create them. But if I have a SR issue fail it would be nice to have that data versus having to recreate the issue.

Of course. A middle ground would be to configure a much smaller maximum size in the data area.
