Since the LAN console is provided by the LIC, any time the LIC is not
running you won't have LAN console. So there's always a time during
shutdown and start when you can't see anything and that's why Jim mentions
using the ASMI to see the panel's status codes.

2: Being more familiar with HMC I was a little disconcerted when the VCP
and the system console status bar stopped showing anything during an IPL.
Am I safe to assume that this was because firmware is OS managed on this
system and that IPL lost it's connection during that PTF IPL? On HMC
managed systems I don't lose connection like this.
