It's been a few decades since I was responsible for this at work.  One of
the last bastions of where I've seen multiformat logical files in action.
I used to have thick 3 ring binders with the standards for each transaction
type.  The thing about standards is that they are incredibly flexible and
no two trading partners will do the same transaction, like an 834, the same
way.
