I would have an unfriendly chat with your BP. Someone ordered it. Given the situation, A) don't pay it (and hope nothing you don't know about breaks) and B) Send IBM a letter indicating you don't use the software.

It's all internal storage. No SAN.

I contacted the company we replicate the local VTL to their VTL and they said they don't need it.
The local VTL is just a "tape" drive.
We started with them in 2023 but IBM said it was ordered in 2021.

Again, we have no record of ever ordering this in 2021.

Does your POWER System use SAN storage or internal? If SAN, does the SAN have LUNs associated with the VTL? If so, there is the answer. The VTL is using SAN storage as part of its storage and that software manages it.

A reasonable solution except it puts 100% of the data in one place. A risk I would not take.

if you purchased the VTL from a business partner, its time to get them involved.

Hi All
IBM sent us a bill for $610 for IBM Virtual Storage Center Entry Edition per Terabyte Annual SW Subscription & Support Renewal.
They said we purchased this in 2021. We have NO record of such an order.
When I ask IBM for documentation they basically say it's our problem to figure out.
We installed a VTL about a year ago so I know it has nothing to do with that.
Any ideas what this is?
