For as long as I can remember, Java version numbers have been a mishmash of utter confusion. Due to a problem I'm having with ACS crashing and randomly resizing 5250 emulator windows, IBM wants me to update Java to "Java 11". Currently ACS/Help/About says:
java.version: 17.0.9
java.vendor: Eclipse Adoptium
java.home: C:\Program Files (x86)\Eclipse Adoptium\jre-17.0.9.9-hotspot
Is that Java 17? Java 9? Java 9.9?
Windows 10 command window, running java -version returns: java version "1.8.0_411".
I won't be able to download IBM's suggested "IBM OpenJ9's Java 11" without submitting a request to our internal review board. I do see in our Software Center the option to install Adoptium Temurin OpenJDK 17.0.6_10, which includes the JRE. Is that Java 6? Java 10?
Google was not my friend.
