I'm talking about the server. When you connect to TCP port 25, this is handled by the server and that's where you have issues, right?
As said, it's just a guess. Try to gain more information from job logs of the active SMTP job.
And . . . both the telnet server and telnet client have a certificate applied.
I don't think this matters because telnet uses SSL always while für SMTP on port 25, startup is plain text with optional switchover to SSL (STARTTLS).
