Thanks Jack.

There is no DHCP running on this "network".  The network consists of a 5 port switch that has 4 ports connected to the IBM i and one port routed to my laptop.  Nothing else on the "network"  All the IP's were statically assigned, including the laptop, and have been assigned for years.  No changes in the move at all.

The goal is to get to the console to start the TCP/IP stack (I think).  Not sure why I am having issues.  Usually I can connect to the console and start stuff that isn't running.  HMC is available but can't seem to get the console to connect from there.

cabling issue or, somehow, a network issue. I can't remember if the
system settings automatically start TCP/IP.

How do you know the IBM i is configured for 10.0.10.140? Are you in via an HMC or direct cabling to confirm that?

If it doesn't start TCP/IP automatically, how would you normally bring up the system? With an HMC?

Did you just set up your laptop for 10.0.10.50? Is that DHCP? Is the IBM i DHCP or did you choose the address?

If the IBM i configures via DHCP, your DHCP server will know if it is up.
