Well, if you want to run the latest release on it, your P9 may not have as
much life as you think. Based on the 3 year cycle the next release of IBM
i should be out in spring of 2025 and typically a new release will drop
support for a version of hardware. 7.5 dropped P8, 7.4 dropped P7...
Past patterns are no guarantee of future directions.

I wish I could LOL!

Being an ISV partner for IBM in the last 4 or 5 years has been a grind.
It's like pulling teeth if you want to buy a box and then it's an
absolute nightmare to handle SWMA every year. I had one IBM contact for
about 15 years that could crank out quotes in 24 hours whether for a
system or SWMA. Now it's like 24 weeks...as an interesting side-note:
I JUST received an invoice for SWMA that renewed in 2020...a good
example of where IBM is now.

My P9 has a few years left but the SWMA grind is daunting....thankful I
don't need to handle HWMA...

I agree on the cloud thing... but it's easier to get a cloud system set
up
than get in touch with anyone at IBM to buy a new system. lol.
