The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
Jack,
When I work with commands I use on multiple operating systems I tend to use
the open systems version. ping is an example. I'll use ping on both IBM
i, Windows, and elsewhere. There are people I know who will only
use VFYTCPCNN. Perhaps in some Quixotic effort to evangelize the world to
the IBM command naming structure. Either command calls the same
program, QTONPING. Don't get me wrong, I like the IBM command naming
structure but it seems pointless to talk in German while someone else is
speaking in English and you're trying to do the same thing, and you know
both.
I'm just not to that point on chmod.

I suspect if you'd just ssh'ed (or QSH'ed) into your box and done:
rm -rf /home/MSW/test
it would have worked, and barring that:
chmod u+w /home/MSW/test; rm -rf /home/MSW/test
Dealing with the Unix file bits thru OS/400 authorities and WRKLNK etc.
will grow hair on your palms 🙂
