My small company develops modern IBM i applications that have gained a
toehold in the public education market which includes billion dollar
vendors. The key to our commercial success in a market dominated by very
large competitors has been by offering lower cost of ownership with
remarkable stability while serving tens of thousands of concurrent users on
single servers. Browser user interfaces paired with backend RPG services.
We’re more efficient CPU wise and more efficient as developers compared to
distributed computing models. Server architecture matters. Application
architecture matters.
