Why not create your own journal? Change the receiver and delete the old one? Now you can tell if records were deleted as well. Passes an audit as well. Use a trigger on the file to write the journal entries?

I have an activity log file that I would like to be able to purge on demand but otherwise disallow record deletes. I suppose I could purge to a different file and the copy the records back.

Now I'm wondering if there is a way to programmatically turn this feature on and off. I don't see it as an option on the CHGPF command. Rich Loeber Kisco Systems LLC https://www.kisco.com ____________

In the S/36 days, I recall that a file could be created so that records could not be deleted from them. I'm looking for a way to do this using a PF in DDS, but I'm not seeing it. Is this just not an option in IBM i DB2 for a physical file?
