The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.

There are legitimate uses for host table entries. Like internal servers,
in shops where an internal DNS is more trouble than it's worth. Or
servers owned by others, that (for whatever reason) are not listed on
the public DNS system.
Or as a means of permanently blocking sites (e.g., Facebook, Twitter,
LinkedIn, or various ad or clickbait servers that might waste one's
bandwidth) that one might be tricked into accessing against one's will,
by remapping them to "0.0.0.0".
