If you are running a current version of ACS, yes the expectation is that updating your PC with a newer version of Java, that will be just fine. The issues is, if you have an older version of ACS, yea could cause failures with new versions of Java.

Thanks for reinforcing my opinion that this particular part of the Java "idea" is crap.
