I have been checking around and found this:
The client has a tiny machine with no partitioning and no virtualization.
As I understand it the use of HMC is optional - especially in a case like
this.
And as the entire machine goes cold when I run the PWRDWNSYS command this
should indicate that no HMC is present since otherwise the command would
only end the partition but keep the machine running.
Seems reasonable?
This in turn means that the request from IBM support to "unassign the
adapter" and run a "PEDBG" are moot since they both require that an HMC is
present.
