Do that for every partition.

Rob,

In these steps:

APYPTF LICPGM(*ALL) APY(*PERM) DELAYED(*YES)
UPDPTFINF
DLTPTF PTF(*ALL)

If you have only a single LPAR, you would just skip the UPDPTFINF, right?
And don't you want an IPL before the DLTPTF command?

Just being anal-retentive. :)

Ok, it's important to remember there is a difference between RMVPTF and
DLTPTF.
RMVPTF will remove a ptf that is temporarily applied.
DLTPTF will trash the save files, cover letters and all the stuff you
know
longer need.
Another command to know is UPDPTFINF. This basically takes ptf save
files
you may have copied from one system to another and registers them into
the
ptf system.
So what I do every quarterly maintenance is the following:
If I have no test ptfs currently applied I first run:
APYPTF LICPGM(*ALL) APY(*PERM) DELAYED(*YES) UPDPTFINF DLTPTF
PTF(*ALL)

Does anyone have a best practice for managing PTF Save Files? Should
they be saved? Is it best to delete them once they have been
permanently applied? Or is there a defined process on how they should
be managed and how to identify the save files that are safe to remove?
