Without the CHGVAR, the compiler drops the variable from the program and
thus drops the copyright line from it. What purpose it has beyond that, I
don't know unless it is just a way to force the copyright to be part of the
compiled code.

Does anybody know what these lines are all about, at the end of the
"as-delivered" QSTRUP:

NOWTRS:
RETURN
CHGVAR VAR(&CPYR) VALUE(&CPYR)

Now, clearly the label "NOWTRS" means "no writers," not "Now TRS-80."
But then, we have a RETURN, right before a CHGVAR that appears to be
equivalent to a NO-OP.

Seems kind of pointless.
