On the other side, even though everyone knows that IBM comes out with new Power Systems about every 3 years, and that even releases start with the high end and odd releases start with the low end IBM still hates to preannounce for fear that someone may delay a purchase of existing stuff and kill the quarter.
I think there's an analogy from WWII about the French had a dandy antitank weapon but didn't put it much into production because an even better one was almost ready. Turns out it was too long of a delay...
