That's my understanding, however it has been said that no updates to FSP,
indeed any changes to configuration could be made without a current UAK.
I've never verified either of those restrictions, rather doing my utmost to
stay current with IBM SWMA and Hardware support. Most of my customers do
as well, although the move away from IBM hardware support is gaining
momentum.

That is correct Rob but you're not toast as you can keep going with your
existing UAK

What I see here Gad is that even if one found a ftp site at IBM with
firmware at it you'd be toast as the UAK would not allow you to install
anything newer than the expiration date of your UAK.
