Or put in other words: You don't backup for the sake of backup, but for the (rare) occasion that you need to recover! And *if* you need to recover, you want it to be as easy and quick as it can get, because when everything went bonkers, you're already nervous, tensed, and stressed — things which raise error probability considerably.
