Assuming this is for IBM i.
#1 thing to remember is RECOVERY. I'm not going to tell you fast it
must be to recover, or the steps needed must be 'less than x.' What i
will tell you is you MUST understand that if a bad thing happens,
EXACTLY how to put humpty dumpty back together again, AND how long that
will take with the selected solution. Then compare that to the time your
business can operate without the system being available.
Only if you are comfortable with the required steps and the time
comparison, can you select an off-site option.

We at iInTheCloud have multiple VTL vendors we can set you up with that
will appear to IBM i as genuine IBM tape libraries. You do your regular
backups to that appliance with or without BRMS. As soon as that backup
is complete automated steps run to replicate that data off-site to our
data centers. With that you STILL have your tapes ON site for file or
other object recovery and you also have a copy with us.
In the event of an emergency you can recover locally if it was a server
failure or can recover with us if it is a facility emergency.
Happy to discuss further. Email me at lbolhuis at iInTheCloud.com for more.
