A long time ago on a machine known as the AS/400, a guy named Leif
Svalgaard wrote about MI programming on said machine. You can read it

In it, he shows how to use RPG to write an MI compiler, and one of the
example programs is how to change member information (starts on page
36). However, it requires the program be compiled in system state.
I don't recommend doing this, but it is possible.
