Periods are also used in Unix environments, so if a collection (library) is
brought over from another system and the database converted to DB2, (like
from Maria or ???) then you might see a period in the name. Files brought
over from Unix boxes to the IFS frequently have periods.

Case matters when using double quotes.

Periods in libraries were quite common on the S/36. It was a way to group
them for saves. S/36 way of "generic".

only thing that works is to be sure naming style *SYS
and CHGCURLIB my.lib

but much rather have the ability to condition the lib on the statement.

any way?

my.lib

In db2 sql, how do you specify the library name?

I've tried everything...

my.lib.myfile
my.lib.myfile
'my.lib'.myfile
'my.lib'/myfile
"my.lib".myfile
"my.lib"/myfile

with both naming styles *SYS and *SQL...
