The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
If you are running an interactive session and execute the drop statement within STRSQL then you should be able to respond to that error.
Somehow, I don't think this helps your situation though.
How about creating a 2nd table by selecting only the columns you want to keep from the original table.

Subject: SQL0952 when dropping a column
I am trying to drop a few columns from a work file. I can only delete the fields after the file is built.
When I run ALTER TABLE QTEMP.XXX DROP COLUMN X1, I get SQL0952.
I displayed the job log and see the drop triggers a message CPD32CC that cannot be displayed advising that data will be lost. The system cancels the job.
I added CHGJOB INQMSGRPY(*SYSREPL).and added an entry monitoring for CPD32CC which is displayed in the job log.
This did not help.
What other suggestions are there?
TIA, Darryl Freinkel
