Ok. I read the link. Apparently limiting characters to 80 "is a restriction of the 5250 proxy function on the HMC."
Maybe it's just enough technobabble to say that if IBM is assisting you with a remote connection like go to meeting it's small enough already and they don't want it any smaller?
One could submit a RFE.
