Subject: Bringing IBM i up to the "latest" OS patches

Been on the platform for ever but it seems like every time I go to order the latest cume/PTF's/TR's i get that "deer in the headlights" feeling that I am going to get hit by something I fail to pay attention to. So, first the basics:

9009 (41A) V7R4 Development environment only

HMC controlled (Virtual HMC)

Last cume: 21091, Firmware VL910_FW910.30 (135), vHMC version(?):

Version 9 Release 1 build level 1803052221

I am not sure how important keeping the vHMC release, Firmware and OS patches in sync is. I've seen posts about that but I haven't seen a comprehensive step by step set of instructions on what needs to be updated and in what order in order to be "current". But, this is the time of year when I have enough "white space" to update my i and do other maintenance. I am a developer, not a sys admin until I need to be, so some of this stuff falls into the "monkey, monkey do" category....

So, here is what I think I need to order:

1) SF99740 Cumulative PTF package C1238740

2) SF99741 All PTF Groups except Cumulative PTF Package & MQ

Does SF99741 cover FF99739 Group Hiper, SF99738 Group Security,

SF99737 Technology Refresh, etc? The name seems to imply that if you want to cover groups and TR's, then SF99741 is your ticket home. But I am not 100% sure.

Checked the wiki for some guidance but didn't find an article about it. As the subject indicates, my hope is to get "up to date". Did I miss anything (steps 1 and 2)?
