1) Interesting. Not sure whether the drop is occurring between you and the
vHMC, or between the vHMC and your servers. Is your vHMC tied to those
servers over IPsec (VPN) site-to-site tunnels, or does it talk to them over
the WAN with IP filtering at all the destination server sites? If
site-to-site VPN tunnels are used, perhaps the Life Time (renegotiation
time) for the tunnels is set very low, or the destruction/recreation of the
tunnels is dropping your console connections. It might not be the issue, but
it's something to look at. The fact that you can establish the connection in
the first place leads me to believe that it's not directly firewall related,
but rather an issue with a security appliance incorrectly flagging your
traffic as malicious, or some traffic used for heartbeats/keep-alive getting
dropped at the network perimeter. I would have the network team start a
trace to see if any of these ports are getting dropped between the HMC and
the managed servers:
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/hmc-firewall-information, particularly
ports 30000 and 30001. I have a remote site connected to us over VPN
site-to-site tunnel, and I could add one of those managed systems at the
remote site to my local vHMC to see if I can replicate your issue. I'm at
V9R2M951, MH01892. (That is, of course, if that's how your network guys have
it set up).

2) Definitely sounds like an IBM bug. Does the issue persist when you swap
browsers/clear cache/stand on your head?

I've got a few issues with v9 I'm trying to work out first.
IDK if it is because I switched to vHMC or the version.
1 - Console sessions drop fairly regularly. All drop at once. To multiple
servers in multiple cities. IBM suspects firewall type issue. Running
traces now.
2 - Often I cannot see the individual lpars while in 'relational' view.
Need to open the ticket on that still. Have to reboot the HMC to get that
back. I can go from the plus sign to the minus sign in an effort to expand
it but no detail appears.
