I also use Litmis and have experienced some of the same timeout issues, but I'm on a wired connection here at home. I haven't been able to track down the root cause yet either.

The IBM i system is leased from Krengeltech/Litmis and as I live in Sweden this is very much a remote connection. I have fiber 100Mb in the house and inhouse there is a mesh network.

No VPN involved.

I (as adviced by Larry) tried to run a wrkactjob with auto refresh. This stayed alive.
I changed the time on the telnet attributes to 240 seconds (4 minutes). The session still died.

I found that another system that I connect to using VPN did stay alive even with 30 minutes or more inactive time.

But also that when connecting to pub400 using direct connect the same problems seemed to occur.

This leads me to - possibly - suspect the mesh wifi network. I have three "satellites" around the house and I definitely have a strong signal everywhere but could there be something strange going on there with the tiny router boxes talking to each other???

This indicates that IBM i was no longer able to communicate to your
client
and thus terminated the >>connection. Therefore, a high probability this is network related. So some things we need to know to >>help you.

1) Are you working in the office or remotely.

2) If office is IBM i on the same network as your PC or is there a
firewall between?

3) If remotely what connectivity are you using? Public IP address
(Hope
not!), VPN, Remote desktop >>(VMWare horizon, Microsoft TSC etc.)

I have noticed recently that my 5250 sessions using ACS end after
about ten minutes of inactivity.

This does not match the system values for timeout which is *NONE or
any other setting that I can find.

The ?keepalive? option is turned on in the .hod file but this does not
help either.

The messages I get in the job log as the session is terminated by the
system
are:

Message Level Text
CPF5140 70 Session stopped
CPF5503 30 Input or output req failed
CPF1358 40 DSCJOB not allowed
CPF1197 50 Job ended due to device error
CPF1164 00 Job ended

What would I need to due to keep the session active until I decide to
close it??
