Been there, done that, got the free Tshirt, sold it at the garage sale (at
a loss) .

Not worth the effort, the HMC guys won't listen anyway, we are just those
ingrate IBM i guys. As an example we've been complaining loudly that in
the IBM i world we move adapters from partition to partition, all the
time. "AIX/LInux can't do that, so why in the world would you ever
consider it?" (direct quote from one of the HMC guys in TX). The only way
I'm aware of to move it is with HMC commands via SSH, or in the GUI remove
the adapter, then add it to the target partition. Plays havoc with
resource names. That's since the "enhanced GUI" came out, before that it
worked fabulously. (granted with VIOS and VTLs we move adapters far less
than we used to, but still......)

you might want to nag your local CAAC / CEAC member so they can nag IBM.
To be honest, we try hard and are not that successfull, but it’s worth
the try.
There is so much we IBM i fans have to complain about HMC, so
this security topic would simply add some topics to talk about.

(remember the GUI discussions?)

I think IBM is talking to a very narrow group of users when doing the
design
of the HMC software, and there is little or no representation from IBM i
on
that panel. They asked for input at PowerUp a few years ago but the slide
was up/down so fast you could not copy down the URL. It was not in the
handout that I could find.
