Hi Patrick,

The bigger issue I'm aware of is that once you're using an image catalog on an IBM i hosting LPAR (with 7.2), guest IBM i's automatically create a *DEVD for that and can access backups one does this way. (If someone knows how to suppress this, I'd be grateful for hints.)

You mean you want to avoid sharing an specific image catalog?
You could restrict access to devices on CRTNWSD option “Restricted Device Resources”.
Not sure if this is what you need
