Hello Jack,

Curious, other than debian, do you have this setup on another linux os or is that it.

I have multiple Linux installs with ODBC. But they all are the same Debian release (10, "Buster"). Some of them have the older iSeries Access driver installed, some the newer iACS. But that's the main difference.

Have you updated the debian at all lately,

I do regularly. As pointed out, there were no updates I'd see as directly influencing ODBC.

how aged is it.

It's current. I install updates in a weekly manner, because some of the installations are exposed to the internet more or less directly.

I found this as well, what version is your odbc driver.

The 64-bit version of this package features a full 64-bit ODBC driver, compatible with version 2.2.13 (and newer) of the unixODBC driver manager packages. If your system does not have unixODBC version 2.2.13 or newer, the ODBC driver contained in this package will not function correctly and may result in application crashes.

Thanks for pointing out. Both iSeries Access and the newer iACS driver are both 64 Bit versions. The sometimes necessary blend of 32 and 64 applications being known from Windows is rarely needed on Linux. Its open source philosophy permits recompilation for everybody without relying on the mercy of commercial vendors to do this.

Debian 10 includes unixODBC 2.3.7.

:wq! PoC
