You can use the old telnet to port 25 and use a script to send an email
from your iSeries to the new mail server.

open Your.mail.server 25

helo SomeDomain.com

mail from:noreply@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

rcpt to:cUser@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

DATA
this is a test.
Tesing email.

quit
