Hello,

I was somewhat shocked to learn that Java crashing on IBM i might leave serious amounts of memory dumps around. I could spot and delete some Java dumps in /QIBM on a around three years old 7.2 install, freeing about 33GB of space in the go.

I did it like this in qsh (or an ssh session):

find /QIBM -name "*.dmp" -exec rm -f {} \;

Blanks are important!

Thanks to Yvan Janssens for that hint! He treated a small dev-LPAR with around 300 GB from being 100% filled to around 20% filled.

He's too busy to write this message, so we agreed I write it on his behalf. Maybe some of you might benefit…

:wq! PoC
