According to IBM the message needs to be broken down into individual parts.

First part: The file bzImage appeared to be missing. Ignore this. This is a carry over from V7 of HMC and is no longer an item of concern.
Second part: or the transfer did not complete successfully. Yep, this was it.
Third part: resulting in an incorrect file size or checksum. Please retry the operation. This was the suggested corrective action.

Since I've tried a few times what is left is to collect debug information from the hmc and add it to the ticket.
