Actually according to this document NetServer needs to be running in order
for the client to work:

Interesting. I seem to recall someone sharing that NetServer was required
to be running in order for the client to work as well.
In any case it doesn't matter to me since I use the Samba smbclient.

NetServer has nothing to do with QNTC
Netserver is the server side of the SMB protocol QNTC is the client side.
