Don't get me wrong, same here! It's the missing window-placement I'm appalled to. Maybe I'm too used in using a Mac, where such details just were there from early on.
I guess if you don't mind some wasted space constituting a border between the window contents and the window frame, then you could in principle have a mode where the window and font both stay constant. I haven't heard of anyone doing this though.
That's what I do with Mocha on my Mac. Usually I have big black borders left and right, but not in SEU. ;-) I'd love if Mocha would enhance that, but they are slow to even fix apparent bugs. But surprisingly, they often said "no" to a request and some months later it was there. (Wouldn't wonder if Mocha today is just a one-man show.)
