For this kind of complex SQL tasks, I've resolved to not twist my mind unnecessarily, but write a simple RPG throwaway with the usual READ and UPDATE (or, if you're writing to a new table), WRITE. It's way easier for me and I get a sense of achievement. :-)

Others may disagree, or even have a solution…
