I've been using this from Scott Klement to return host names in some of our system created utilities.
There is an CLLE version and a RPGLE version.
Uses gethostbyname API

I really feel that IBM should bundle nslookup with IBM i and not require you load the DNS Server option. I removed the DNS server option from most lpars because the IBM i version of it will not pass a security audit. But I'd really like the nslookup client command. I opened up a RFE on that and IBM declined it and said there's no way they'll unbundle that from the server.

This x100. I've seen more "errors" caused by people adding host table
entries that it's the first thing I look for now with connection problems.

For some reason some shops think they ping google.com from their PC, and
then add a host table entry for it on their IBM i with the IP that is
resolved. No... use DNS! :)
